Queenie is a beautiful female German Shepherd that was found wondering around Lonaconing, Maryland for a week or more. We believe Queenie is approx. 2 years old. She is very obedient! Very house trained! Great with other dogs! Great with adults and children! So why isn't Queenie with a loving family? I am sure that the first person that comes to visit this wonerdul baby will fall in love with her! Her picture is on out petfinder page - www.petfinder.com/shelters/MD322.html

Liberty was found staying around the Flintstone, Maryland firehouse for a few days dragging a 9 foot cable that she must have been tied out with. No one claimed her when she was posted in the lost and found section of the Cumberland Times News. She is a very pretty black and white Siberian Husky and maybe Border Collie mix, we are not 100% sure. We think Liberty is 1 1/2 years old.She does have beautiful eyes, one blue and one brown! She loves people but is afraid of having her belly rubed at first??? We don't know why unless she had been kicked and she fears being hurt again, we don't know? She will make a family a wonderful family pet. Her picture is also on our petfinder page- www.petfinder.com/shelters/MD322.html

Cuddles came to The Ark of Hope three weeks before Cuddles delievered her seven beautiful puppies (5 females and 2 males). Cuddles is a black lab mix. We were told that she is 2 years old and her mother was black lab and her father was chocolate lab. We were also told that her puppy's father was a large chocolate lab?? Cuddles herself is a wonderful dog, very sweet and lovable with men, women, children and other dogs. She is not a large lab and she has not been spayed as of yet because her puppies are still with her. If you would like to have a "cuddle-bunny" in your life you need to visit with Cuddles, she will steal your heart. How could anyone neglect her, this sweet young dog??? Go to: www.petfinder.com/shelters/MD322.html to see pictures of Cuddles and her puppies.

Ellie has just arrived at The Ark of Hope. She is a black and white, 2 year old Terrier and Dane mix, we aren't sure! She is not huge like a Great Dane, her body looks more like Boxer! Whatever her mother and father was she is a great dog! She looks up at you and asks to be loved! This young dog is begging for a family to love her for the rest of her life. She has sooo much love to give in return. Call and make an appointment to see Ellie if you are looking for a friend to give you unconditional friendship and love! She will be your child's best friend! Her picture is on: www.petfinder.com/shelters/MD322.html

We can't forget Lexie our new mommy kitty. Lexie was brought to The Ark by a nice lady that was trying to feed the young stray when all to quickly she began to get a rather round belly. Having all the pets she could afford this caring lady brought who she called "Little Grey" to The Ark where she knew the kitty would be properly cared for then when she delievered her kittens they would be placed in good loving homes when they were 8 weeks old. Going with the Grey's Anatomy theme of Little Grey we renamed this precious kitty Lexie, after the charactor in Grey's Anatomy, Lexie who was nick named "Little Grey." Well Lexie delievered 4 beautiful littlen kittens and once they a 8 weeks old Lexie and the kittewns will all be hoping for families to love and adopt them! These precious kitties can be seen on: www.petfinder.com/shelters/MD322.html then you will want to call and place your favorite on hold. Please remember that Lexie the mommy kitty, who is just a kitten herself also needs a family to call her own!

On Wednesday, May 13th a call came into The Ark of Hope telling of a litter of kittens (1 female, grey & 4 males, 3 greys and 1 cream)who had lost their mommy cat to the road. The mommy cat was killed on Saturday, the baby kittens maybe 4 weeks old have been without their mother and food for 5 days! It was critical that the kittens were feed replacement mother's milk and kitten food asap! They were very emaciated and dehydrated to the critical point! Once back at The Ark they received the mother's milk, can kitten food and help with to going pottie then they fell asleep in a heap on their warming blanket! These kittens should be able to be adopted after June 12th. But don't wait until then go to: www.arkofhoperescue.8m.com copy and paste the cat adoption application, fill it out and email it back, once references are checked out and we "talk a little" we can place your favorite kitten on hold until he/she is 8 weeks old. Soon you will be able to see their adorable little faces  on www.petfinder.com/shelters/MD322.html on call Dianne at 301-478-3300 and make an appointment to visit them!!!

Molly is a 1 1/2 year old Jack Russell darling! When her  mom had a new baby Molly was sent outside. She was put down into the basement at night, if it got cold!!! Molly is a wonderful dog! Not the typical, very energetic, non-stop Jack Russell! But very calm and rather timid. But once she realized that she was safe at the Ark she became very loving, wanting to sit on our laps, lick our faces, and cried when we had to move on to spend quality time with the next dog! Molly will make a great addition to a family that needs a dog to curl up and cuddle with. She has been spayed, she is up to date on her vaccinations and is totally housebroken. Dianne would love to add her to her own family but understands that she can't keep them all and also understands "sometimes a dog deserves to be #1 in their family, not one of many!"UPDATE: Molly has been adopted!

Romeo, his name should explain everything! This small beagle/cocker mix was a scared stray trying to survive in Finzel, MD all by himself. Hungry, cold, and very thin this small dog was scared of everything in this world until a kindhearted man - "Rich" gently reassured him that he would not harm him and would make things better. After a lot of convincing, Romeo decided to take his chances with this kind stranger. After Romeo arrived at the Ark he was giving a nice warm room with his own soft bed, a good dinner and some medicine for his sore cracked and bleeding feet. The next day Rich called to check on him and told us that he had a friend that wanted to adopt Romeo. After being wormed, a vet visit, Rabies and Booster shots, a little more "meat on his bones" and repaired feet, Romeo was ready to go to his new home! Romeo was neutered on 1/15/09. GOOD LUCK ROMEO!UPDATE: Romeo has been adopted!!!

Na-Na is an orphan! A black long haired Dachshund laid vigil over her dad's body until someone realized that he had not been seen for a few days. Na-Na is a very sweet 2 year old, who was spayed 1/12/09, she is up to date on Rabies and DHLPP. She is very loving with people and is great with other dogs. A small dog with her personality should not by at the Ark of Hope very long. When people first see her, all you'll hear is, "Awe, she's adorable!"UPDATE: Na-Na has been adopted!!

Starr and CJ, the puppies ! These two girls are a blast! Before they arrived at the Ark of Hope Rescue they were "shelter bound" as their owner's rented home was being sold, they had no where to go. These two pups were scared of everything! But after only two days these 5 month old, Choc Lab/Austrian Shepherd mixes have come out of their shells. Starr who is mostly white with some brown patches is definitely the leader while CJ, almost all chocolate brown with white on her paws follows close behind her sister. In a perfect world we would love these two girls to be adopted together but we all know that this is not a perfect world so they will be adopted separately if we have to. It will break our hearts to have to separate them but getting them adopted into loving family homes is our first priority. As of 1/18/09 Starr and CJ have not been spayed. They have been wormed and have their puppy shot. Vet appointments are coming!UPDATE: Starr and CJ have both been adopted!!

Lilly & Lola are two precious little puppies that arrived at the Ark of Hope after their mom moved out of her home because she had to "serve time". We believe that they are Chihuahua mixed. They are approximatly 3 months old and they have received their first puppy shot and have been wormed. They are extremely friendly and loveable! Both girls are paper trained but are learning about the outside potty very quickly! We are hoping that they can be adopted out together but if not they should do fine separatly. Maybe you know someone that is looking for that perfect someone special, call them and tell them that you found their perfect pet!!! UPDATE: Lilly and Lola have been adopted!!!!!

Please don't to check out "Sugar", "Bonnie", "Chance #2", Chance #3", "Rigby", "Max", "Ashley", and of course "Thunder" and "Lightning" on the rest of our web site! Don't forget the cats, take a look at the kitties that need a home. All have been spayed or neutered, feline leukemia & HIV tested negative and up to date on vaccinations. Please keep all of these animals in mind, you'll never know when you'll find someone who needs a best friend, please remember our little friends! You can see all their pictures at; www.petfinder.com/shelters/MD322.html
