Happy Endings!

All of the dogs on this page have been adopted!!                                                                                                            Here are a few more pictures for now. Keep checking back, we keep adding more...

This is another picture of Baby. (More pictures of Baby can be found on Happy Endings 1) The picture was taken while she was being clipped down. If you look at her right leg, that is how big it looked before being clipped. Her left leg is the normal size of Baby's leg!

This is sweet old Mable. We didn't know what her name was, but because she looked like an old dog we gave her an old name! Mable ended up at Arctic Ridge Kennels during a thunder storm, April 2001. We didn't know if she was lost or if someone "dumped" her. After putting posters up, calling all of the vets offices as well as the animal shelter, watching the lost and found section in the Cumberland Times as well as placing an add in the paper for: "found Black Lab/Chow mixed," putting her in our car and riding her from house to house asking everyone we could find if they knew her, we starting losing hope that she ran away. Mable was adopted and has a great life now, although she is very scared of thunder and lightning storms. Most people looking for a dog to fulfill their lives look for a young one. Mable is the proof that an older dog makes a wonderful family pet!

The next couple of pictures are of Bailey!

This is Bailey's backbone, as you can see there is NO "Meat" only a skeleton! Update:He is doing great, being here for only 1 month, he has gained 19 pounds! Check out his updated picture below at the bottom of this page!!!!!

Sweet little "Whiskers"

Whiskers is a male Wired Hair Fox Terrier that came to Ark of Hope Rescue on Wednesday, April 19th. Whiskers was outside ALL winter chained to a dog box. A lady took him from her neighbor after not being able to watch this little dog outside all the time. She thought that he would get along with her two Pug dogs, but her older dog didn't want anything to do with Whiskers, so in his best interest she signed him over to Ark of Hope Rescue so that we may find him a home. That's right, Whiskers is a happy, healthy little dog that love kids and loves to play and is ready to be adopted! Maybe you can help us find him a home?   UPDATE: Whiskers has a home! Yeah! He now lives with a family in Arlington, VA.

Below: Bailey Boy!

This picture is Bailey and Bobby only four months after he arrived at the Ark of Hope. As you can see Bailey has fully recovered from his abuse and neglect that he had suffered at the hands of his past owners. Bailey is no longer looking for a family to adopt he has adopted one!

This is Mable...

We woke Mable up to take this picture. She isn't this dopey. She has the sweetest personality. She looks just like a medium size black lab but she has a purple tounge, so we considered her a female Black Labrador mixed with Chow. When she first arrived she wasn't this "chunky." Like most labs, meal time is her favorite time of the day. UPDATE: After adopting Mabel she lived 7 years with her new family, when her owners had to sadly "let her go" due to a large internal mass...she couldn't breathe. Her owners believe that those 7 years were some of the best in their lives!

This is Bailey! You can read all about him at: "Bailey's Story."

Bailey, believe it or not is a Golden Retriever. He should weigh between 90-95 pounds. When we took him to the veterinarian, the very next day that we rescued him, he weighed 42 pounds!!! We were told by his owners that they thought that he had worms-although they didn't take him to the vets for medication. The word from the vet after his examination was that he did NOT have worms or any other underlying causes that would bring Bailey down like this. The vet said he wasn't fed properly-he was STARVED!

This picture is of Bailey's neck. There is no hair from where his collar had rubbed it completely off! Take notice of how skinny his neck is under his fur.

Below is a picture of little Stitch

Stitch is a yellow lab mixed with dalmation. As you can see he is all white. He is a nice little dog that was abondoned when his owner was evicted from her apartment. Not able to take him with her, she left him. Stitch is healthy and can be placed up for adoption immediately. He loves to play and is good with men, women and children! Can't you help us find him good homes?    UPDATE: Stitch now has a home! and Rollie went with him. A man from Hancock came to "see" Stitch and when he saw how Stitch and Rollie were best friends he decided that he didn't want to separate them, so he took them both home! Good luck Stitch and Rollie!

Here is Rollie, a medium size lovable guy!

Rollie was abandoned along with Stitch when their owner was evicted from their home. Rollie is a very lovable dog that is craving love and attention. Both dogs would make a great family pet, especially a family with children that like a play ball and play fetch. Hopefully, you may know someone that needs Stitch and/or Rollie as badly as they need them!      UPDATE:  As you have read above with Stitch, Rollie and Stitch are living happily in Hancock!
