* Duke & Shiloh and their puppies!
Duke & Shiloh sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g... UPDATE: DUKE, SHILOH AND PUPPIES - ALL HAVE BEEN ADOPTED, THEY ALL HAVE A PLACE FOR SANTA TO LEAVE THEM THEIR CHRISTMAS PRESENTS!!!
Duke & Shiloh were owned by the same person. This young man had to move from his apartment and could not take his dogs or their puppies with him, which after finding out the complete story the Ark of Hope Rescue was glad that they were safe at the Ark. To make a very long story a little shorter...Duke and Shiloh had 4 puppies. At the time that the Ark of Hope got involved with the situation the puppies were four weeks old. The day that the family was to arrive at the Ark, Dianne was told that two of the puppies were stolen. Knowing that Maryland law states that a puppy has to remain with its mother until it is eight weeks old, Allegany County Animal Shelter was contacted. Even though the Ark of Hope had the name, address, and phone number of the girl who had the puppies, the animal shelter would not get involved, would not uphold the law; they were, "too busy." Dianne was told to just let it be and hope that they puppies would be all right.
Shiloh, the mother, an AKC black and white siberian huskey who is only 1 year old was so infested with worms and tired our vet choose to keep her overnight for a boost of IV fluids and a worming. Once at the Ark, she began eating three meals a day and has gained 5 pounds in 8 days while still nursing puppies. She has been adopted and on November 7th will be leaving her family here at the Ark to start a new life with her new loving Mom and Dad.
Duke, the daddy dog, a 1 1/2 year old black lab / boxer mix, was also very thin. Due to the way his owner "disciplined" him, Duke was quite afraid of men. Now, he is gaining weight and is learning to trust.
The Puppies! Kush and Brady. These two adorable puppies, lucky enough to be at the Ark of Hope with their mom and dad, are doing great! They have been wormed, they have had their first puppy shot, and on Novemeber 7th, they will be going to their new homes.
